Residenzwhite
Marble

Structure: The RESIDENZWHITE is a fine-grained, nearly white marble. Poor-thick grey veins beside a bloom-white basic clay, which can relatively far-constantly run over the entire rock, are characteristic for the RESIDENZWHITE. A bluish likewise brownish glow is possible. Burials of dark grey graphite in the form of thin lines, threads and points lend a "network decoration" to this noble marble. Since the ancient world over the Middle Ages until today the RESIDENZWHITE is the most popular marble of the sculptors and interior decorators. The sampling of RESIDENZWHITE is quite difficult because of the changing texture and different brightness stages. Usually prototypes are not sufficient in order to obtain a general impression of the rock. Thus a wide sampling to the switching of an impression and the effect of the rock is recommended. Small, open places so-called "Tarolli" on the surface are possible and belong to this material.
Characteristics: After the MOHS´ hardness scale (1 = chalk, 10 = diamond) the RESIDENZWHITE possesses a degree of hardness from 3 to 4 and counts thus to the soft rocks. Due to its composition the RESIDENZWHITE is frost-sensitively (thus recommend only for the internal area), is as soft rock not scratch-proof and has to be protected before acids.
Emergence: Before approx. 200 to 150 million years bodies and skeletons of sea organisms sank onto the ground of a warm, flat sea, which were solidified to limestone. Approximately 30 million years ago the movement of the two tectonic plates Africa and Europe began. The sediment layers were chemically changed and deformed in large earth depth under several million atmospheres pressure and under very high temperatures. The soft limestone became crystalline marble (metamorphic rock), which was later high piled to the current mountains. There are approx. 50 different sorts in Carrara. One of the best is the RESIDENZWHITE, the marble for statues, which the prominent artists worked with. Michelangelo for example went several times into the quarries, in order to look for its ideal material. Today the RESIDENZWHITE is often won in the deep mining.
Age: Approx. 150 million years (Jura).
Use: Within all ranges of the interior decoration and sculpture; mainly for wall linings, desk tops and baths.
