Malcesinelight
Marble

Structure: The MALCESINELIGHT is a cream to lightbeige-brown limestone. The uniform basic clay is loosened up of bright roundish points, which are caused by fossils (algae). Distributed over the rock brownish "break lines" arise, which are formed from ferric oxide separations. MALCESINELIGHT is a very popular, well-known and frequently used limestone. The sampling of MALCESINELIGHT is quite difficult because of the changing texture and different brightness stages. Usually prototypes are not sufficient in order to obtain a general impression of the rock. Thus a wide sampling to the switching of an impression and the effect of the rock is recommended. Small, open places on the surface are possible. These belong to this material and are professionally locked (primed).
Characteristics: After the MOHS´ hardness scale (1 = chalk, 10 = diamond) MALCESINELIGHT possesses a degree of hardness from 3 to 4 and counts thus to the soft rocks. Due to its composition the MALCESINELIGHT is frost-sensitively (thus recommend only for the internal area), is as soft rock not scratch-proof and has to be protected before acids.
Emergence: Approx. 170 - 150 million years ago fine lime mud was deposited in a shallow estuary, which was overgrown with algae. In the course of geologic history these sediments were solidified to limestone.
Age: Approx. 170 million years (Jura).
Use: In the interior decoration, mainly as floor mats and stairway steps.
