Encyclopaedia of stairs
Guardrail, railing or banister
Railings must have a height of at least 90 cm measured at the stage front edge. At a crash height of 12 m or hight this value increases to 110 cm. If it is to be counted on the presence from children, railings have to be designed that childen should not to be able to over-climbe these (leader effect). The distance between two railing parts should not exceed 12 cm (in all directions). This demand is not valid with buildings with no more than two flats.
If the railing is fixed above the flight of stairs, then is the lower edge of the railing to train in such a way that a cube with an edge length by 15 cm (which lies on the surface), cannot be through-pushed to the stage.
